Moniepoint offers voluntary exits in product and engineering reset
Moniepoint is reorganising its engineering and product functions, with some roles expected to become redundant as the Nigerian fintech moves to smaller teams that own products from build to operations. TechCabal reports that affected staff were offered five months’ salary to resign voluntarily, although the company can decline applications from employees whose skills it still needs. The voluntary exit window closed on October 23, staff are expected to know whether their roles are affected between November 2 and 11, and the process is planned to end by December. Moniepoint says the move is not a layoff, but the practical effect is that some backend, frontend, mobile, QA and product roles may disappear. For Nigeria’s tech labour market, this is a notable signal from a unicorn that is still hiring but is trying to reduce coordination layers and concentrate senior technical capability.
